Hi! I’m Anna. I’m a journalist who writes about business, culture and technology. My writing appears in the New York Times, Guardian, Wired, the BBC, Monocle and many others. I’ve been working in the media for ten years, including on staff as an editor at the Guardian and Vice.
After losing my job as a news editor in a round of company-wide redundancies in 2017, I went freelance. In one year, I had a front-page byline in the New York Times, features in the Paris Review, New York Magazine and Wired, as well as a steady and reliable income.
I started writing this newsletter when I first went freelance as a place to document my journey into the unknown that was self-employment. Since then, it’s grown into a weekly staple for tens of thousands of readers who turn to it for its candid take on working for yourself.
